Dear Parents, Guardians and School Families

FACE MASKS FOR PRIMARY STUDENTS YEARS 3-6.

Tomorrow (Thursday March 3rd) Level 2 Public Health measures come into effect.

What this means for schools is that students in years 3-6 are required to wear masks at school and in all public indoor settings.

Already a number of our Primary students are wearing masks. Unfortunately, this was too late to prevent them becoming ‘close contacts’ of COVID-19 positive cases in years 3 and 4 and having to isolate from today.

You are reminded that the Uniform shop has a limited supply of cloth, reusable child-sized masks for sale and we also have a small supply for use if needed.

It is expected that by wearing a mask your child will be better protected, less likely to be deemed a ‘close contact’ and avoid the 7 days of isolation.

WHO IS A CLOSE CONTACT?

A household member or intimate partner of a person with COVID-19 who has had close contact with them during the infectious period; or

Someone who has had close contact with a person during their infectious period, including:

  1. At least 15 minutes face-to-face contact where a mask was not worn by either person; or
  2. Greater than 2 hours within a small indoor space or classroom environment, where masks have been removed for this period of time by both students.

Someone who is directed by WA Health that they are a close contact.

Please inform the school if you or your child tests positive for COVID-19.

PCR and RAT TESTING FOR THOSE IN ISOLATION

Day 6 a PCR   OR

Day 7 a RAT(last day of quarantine).

Day 8 Return to school if negative, no symptoms and no new positive case in the household.

If the RAT returns a positive result for a student/staff member who has not previously been identified as a close contact then we ask parents take the child to get a PCR.  This is because of the significant implications on the school class if the RAT is a false positive.

A positive RAT result will be sufficient to confirm the case if the person has already been identified as a close contact.
