Emmanuel had a boy and a girls team play at the recent Inter-school basketball carnival. Following a few weeks of training both teams were full of enthusiasm and ready to compete.
The boys first game was a high scoring encounter and ended in a draw with Noah and Marley shooting well. After having a good start in games 2 and 3, the boys were twice narrowly beaten. After being down 8-2 in game 4, Emmanuel fought back to draw the game at 12 all. Offensive teamwork got us back into the game.
Kirsten Matchett coached the girls to three impressive wins and one loss. In each game, the girls continually created good shooting opportunities through accurate passing and driving to the basket. Natasha and Kaitlyn both worked hard on both ends of the court
Lead by Airi and Joseph, I was impressed with the defensive pressure we put on other teams. I was proud of all players cheering and supporting their teammates on the sideline.
